Highlights from the 2023 Sheetz-to-Sheetz Trail Run (3/11/23).

We’re proud to have earned a RaceCheck GOLD Badge four years running — and for 2025, the Sheetz-to-Sheetz Trail Run was rated the Top Off-Road Race in the Country by Racecheck athlete reviews!

Despite the less than ideal weather, the 2022 race was one of all time favorite running experiences.

🥧 About the Race

Looking for a fun, slightly ridiculous, definitely memorable running challenge? You’ve found it.

The Sheetz-to-Sheetz Trail Run is a 14-mile, untimed point-to-point adventure benefiting local kids and other worthy causes. We start at one Sheetz, wind through farmland and forest, and finish at another Sheetz. (Yes — a run between gas stations. You can’t make this stuff up.)

Most of the route follows the Dahlgren Railroad Heritage Trail (DRHT), a flat, scenic rails-to-trails gem. Shuttle buses haul runners from the finish area and event parking in Dahlgren to the start line, so you only have to run one direction — forward.

While we hand out cool awards for our top overall and Masters (50+) finishers, the real prize is the experience: quirky aid stations stocked with pie, s’mores, Peeps, soft pretzels, and other culinary curveballs you won’t find at Boston or Berlin.

Finishers earn swag they’ll actually use — an insulated Sheetz travel mug (filled with Sheetz Bros. coffee), free MTO food vouchers, a sweat towel, reusable race cup, snacks, and a drawstring bag to haul it all home.

Fun! Fun! Fun! Highly recommended!
— Chris D.

🌎 A Cupless Race

We’re proud to be a 100% cupless race! Each runner receives a HydraPak SpeedCup, the collapsible, reusable cup that keeps over 2,000 single-use cups and bottles out of our landfill every year.

🗺️ Course Overview

When was the last time you ran from one Sheetz to another? Your adventure starts at the King George Middle School Sheetz (Store #573) and finishes 14 miles later at the Dahlgren Sheetz (Store #259). The first 1.4 miles roll along the road before you hop onto the Dahlgren Railroad Heritage Trail (DRHT) for 12.6 flat, scenic miles through farmland and forest. Along the way, four fun, themed aid stations keep the good vibes going:

  • Mile 3.14: Pie & Water (Get it? Pi?)

  • Mile 6.2 (campsite): S’mores, Peeps, Rice Krispies Treats, Water, Dr. Raindrop Electrolyte, and Porta-johns

  • Mile 10.2 (Meadows neighborhood): Fruit Snacks & Water

  • Mile 12.5 (Little Ark Church): Homemade Soft Pretzel Nuggets, Water, and a Porta-john

🚌 Transportation

Remember — this is a point-to-point race so you’ll need to plan ahead a bit. Park at the King George Gateway Shopping Center (near the finish), where shuttle buses will whisk you 15 minutes to the start line. Hotels and post-race snacks are conveniently nearby.

After you finish, simply walk a quarter mile back to your car or hop aboard the Bayside Ford Courtesy Shuttle for a quick lift. If you must park near the start, use King George Middle School — but please, no parking at either Sheetz store or O’Reilly Auto Parts.
