Meet Our Team

Chris chalkley
race director

Facebook | Instagram

Perhaps as the result of a mid-life crisis, Chris Chalkley became a runner in 2015 after getting hooked on Obstacle Course Racing (OCR). Since then, he has built out his own 30+ obstacle course in King George to train for events like Spartan Race, Tough Mudder, and Savage Race. He runs frequently with the King George Running Team (KGRT), enjoying the camaraderie and encouragement to continuously tackle new challenges as age group milestones pass by. His proudest running moments include helping Ainsley’s Angels adaptive athletes partake in trail running and OCR, completing 100K as part of the World’s Toughest Mudder 24-Hour Endurance Challenge, and finishing in 4th place at the grueling OCR World Championships (15K) for age group 50+. Elsewhere, Chris has completed several ultras (RedEye 50K, Dam Yeti, Spartan Ultra), four marathons (Marine Corps Marathon, Richmond Marathon) and many half marathons including the Park-to-Park Half, Historic Half, Richmond Half, and Navy-Air Force Half.

A frequent visitor to the Dahlgren Railroad Heritage Trail (DRHT), Chris organized a meetup via Facebook in 2018 to run the trail between two Sheetz stores. With generous support from the local Sheetz and King George county, this informal fun run of 20 runners grew into the Sheetz-to-Sheetz Trail Run we know today. As race director, his four-point mission for Sheetz-to-Sheetz includes: (1) bring people of all abilities and backgrounds to enjoy the DRHT; (2) encourage a fun break from competitive races; (3) give back to the community; and (4) promote King George County as a trail running destination. When not running, Chris enjoys photography and scanning the aisles of Home Depot for new obstacle build inspiration.

Catherine Williams
Assistant to the race director

Facebook | Instagram

Originally from New York, Catherine Williams got serious about running after transplanting to King George in 2002. She worked in runs whenever she could as her three daughters were born, often pushing a double jogging stroller along the roads of King George. As a short to mid-distance runner, Catherine has completed countless 5K and 10K races. Starting in 2019, she caught the mileage bug and conquered the Frozen Heart 50K, skipping the marathon level altogether. She’s also a two-time finisher of the JFK 50-Miler. She did circle back to collect a couple of marathon medals as well, finishing the 2019 Richmond Marathon and the 2022 Jim Thorpe Marathon in Pennsylvania’s Lehigh Valley. In addition, she has completed many local races of varying distances including the Dahlgren Trail Half, Marine Corps 17.75K, Pittsburgh Marathon Relay, Army Ten-Miler, Charm City Run 20-Miler, and many more. She’s currently training for another Richmond Marathon and the Live the Life Challenge in Virginia Beach. Not afraid to get dirty, Catherine has completed 9-ish (she lost count) Tough Mudders, often running in an outrageous costume!

In 2018 (on her birthday), Catherine was among the two dozen finishers of the inaugural Sheetz-to-Sheetz Trail Run. She loved the “epic community race” and added more finisher mugs and volunteer hours over the years. For 2024, she brings her wealth of professional marketing experience to serve as Assistant to the Race Director. Currently a Customer Operations Manager and head of the project management, scheduling and purchasing departments at NextPage, Catherine is a valued member of the team, working tirelessly behind the scenes to make the Sheetz-to-Sheetz experience the best it can be!

Meet the 2024 race ambassadors

Chris Reinhardt

Facebook | Instagram

After gaining 30 pounds his freshman year in college, Chris Reinhardt decided it might be time give running a try. What began as modest attempts to run a mile around Virginia Tech’s Drill Field soon became an enduring hobby. Since then, Chris has completed five marathons including the Marine Corps Marathon and the Philadelphia Marathon and has twice conquered the New Years’ Day RedEye 50K. Always game for new adventures, he has also completed four Ragnar events and four Colonial Relays. Chris gives back as a frequent runner with Ainsley’s Angels of America where he enables those who cannot run to compete in races of all distances. Chris has completed the Sheetz-to-Sheetz Trail Run every year since its inception, making him a member of the exclusive Legendz Club. What he loves about Sheetz-to-Sheetz is its incorporation of three things he loves: running, laughing, and eating (especially marshmallow Peeps). When not running, Chris is often playing one of his musical instruments or eating snacks from his pantry.

Charlotte Powers

Hailing from southwest Virginia, Charlotte Powers started running in 2016 and hasn’t looked back – even naming her beloved rescue dog after her favorite running shoe brand, Brooks. She has completed every Historic Half and Marine Corps Marathon (MCM) since 2016. Even when MCM was cancelled in 2020, she found a way to run it virtually in an especially meaningful way. To honor her great uncle Jack who was killed on D-Day, she and her dad created a 26-mile course around her small hometown, ending at the National D-Day Memorial in Bedford. Other accomplishments include 12 marathons (including America’s toughest road race, the Blue Ridge Marathon) and 6 ultras including the Dam Yeti 50-Miler. Charlotte is a long-time member of Meg’s Miles, wear blue: run to remember, and Team RunAbout Roanoke. As the general manager of Roanoke’s RunAbout Sports, she loves helping others on their fitness journeys. Since completing her first Sheetz-to-Sheetz Trail Run in 2023, she yearns to “share [the] beautiful course and amazing people with others”.

Paul Koepfinger

Facebook | Instagram

Like many runners, Paul Koepfinger has an impressive running resume. He ran in junior high through college where he earned All East honors in 1986 at West Virginia University. After starting a family, he picked up running again in his 30s, completing 16 marathons (starting with the Richmond Marathon), dozens of half marathons (including 10 Historic Half finishes), and many other accomplishments. Impressive, but Paul’s real story is one of giving back to the running community. For 13 years, he has coached, motivated, and mentored high school cross country and track teams. When not coaching, he serves as a certified USA Track & Field national-level official and has worked for a professional timing company. Recently, he honored his late wife, Anne, by hosting the Ragin’ Cajun race in Colonial Beach to raise money for a scholarship fund. For over 30 years, he has worked to support persons with disabilities, currently at a national non-profit agency that creates employment opportunities. Paul will undoubtedly help us engage the next generation of runners at Sheetz-to-Sheetz!
